34 Fairview Road is the home of retired Boston Police Sergeant Brian Albert, and the front lawn where Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe was found unresponsive in a blizzard on January 29, 2022. O'Keefe had arrived overnight with his girlfriend, Karen Read, after stops at two Canton bars; Jennifer McCabe — Albert's sister-in-law — placed the 911 call from the house at 6:04 a.m. Whether O'Keefe entered the house is the disputed question the two trials turn on. The Commonwealth's theory is that Read struck him with her Lexus while reversing on the street. The defense's is that O'Keefe was assaulted inside 34 Fairview and the scene was staged, with investigators tied to the Albert family building the case against Read.

Canton Police Department is the town force that fielded the first 911 call from 34 Fairview Road, processed the initial scene, and became the focus of the defense's conflict-of-interest case. The department recused itself from witness interviews: Officer Paul Gallagher testified that Canton PD stood down because "one of our best investigators' name is Kevin Albert — he's the property owner's brother — and we didn't think it would be appropriate." State Police took jurisdiction; Canton PD "assist[ed] them in any way we can." The defense argued the recusal was incomplete — that Canton PD personnel retained operational access that mattered.

C.F. McCarthy's is the Canton bar where John O'Keefe met Karen Read on the evening of January 28, 2022 — the first stop in a night that ended at 34 Fairview Road. Michael Camerano, O'Keefe's friend, testified the couple greeted each other affectionately at the bar: "They kissed." O'Keefe paid a $52.80 tab that included Tito's Vodka — the drink Read took with her when the group left for the Waterfall. Surveillance video from the bar was preserved and played across both trials.

The Canton PD sally port — the secured garage bay where police vehicles and seized vehicles are processed — held Karen Read's Lexus SUV from the morning of January 29 to February 1, 2022, when State Police executed a search warrant. During those three days, Officer Paul Gallagher conceded, the sally port was accessible to "the entire department" — roughly forty-five Canton PD personnel. The sally port became the physical stage for the defense's evidence-tampering theory, and two features of its surveillance record drove days of courtroom argument.

Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton is where Boston PD Officer John O'Keefe was pronounced dead after transport from 34 Fairview Road, and where Karen Read was taken the same morning on a Section 12 psychiatric hold. Officer Steven Mullaney testified that Canton dispatch advised "she was making suicidal statements," providing the basis for the transport. Read's clothing was collected at the hospital; O'Keefe's was preserved as evidence. A blood sample drawn from Read at Good Samaritan would produce the central forensic thread of both trials.

The Waterfall Bar & Grille is the Canton tavern where John O'Keefe, Karen Read, Brian and Nicole Albert, Jennifer and Matthew McCabe, and others converged the night of January 28, 2022 — the last public place O'Keefe was seen alive. The group arrived after a first stop at C.F. McCarthy's and stayed until closing. Bartender Rebecca Trayers testified that O'Keefe ordered a beer at the bar; Nicholas Kolokithas, who saw him up close, "didn't observe any injuries." Nicole Albert described O'Keefe's clothing — "a hat on, some sort of just sweatshirt, jeans and sneakers" — no winter coat.
